by Myani Guetta-Gilbert, Community and Tribal Engagement Manager at HealthierHere
In 2018 and 2019, the Community Grants Program set out to better understand Medicaid recipients’ experiences accessing healthcare in King County, WA. The information would inform HealthierHere’s work to transform the healthcare system and eliminate health disparities in our region. From the start, the program was deeply and intentionally committed to a community-centered process for data collection, analysis and ownership.
Led by HealthierHere and the Center for MultiCultural Health, and in partnership with 34 grassroots and community-based organizations, the program collectively engaged with and gathered insights from 2,860 individuals from over 40 different communities in King County.
