HealthierHere is investing $300,000 in five food assistance providers across King County through its Food Security Infrastructure and Sustainability Fund.
These investments will help to support the systems and infrastructure that make food access and efficient distribution possible, helping local organizations meet rising demand while building long-term sustainability.
Across King County, food banks, pantries, and community food programs are serving more people with fewer resources. At the same time, many organizations need updated equipment, stronger distribution systems, and better technology to operate efficiently and better serve their communities.
The Food Security Infrastructure and Sustainability funding is designed to meet that need.
Food Security Infrastructure Investments Strengthen Regional Systems
To complement the $1.2 million in recent food assistance funding distributed to local food assistance providers, the additional investment of $300k focuses on increasing partner capacity to serve individuals and families by improving and increasing their infrastructure.
Organizations which were eligible to apply for the Food Security Infrastructure and Sustainability funding included both larger and smaller-scale food assistance providers, including food pantries, food banks, mutual aid networks, and community food programs.
Awardees will use the funds to support:
- Purchasing, installing, and/or improving essential food storage and distribution equipment
- Investing in new or existing technology that supports food distribution
- Other items related to essential food storage and distribution equipment that support food distribution.
By investing in infrastructure, HealthierHere is helping ensure that food assistance providers can continue to serve communities reliably and equitably.

A Long-Term Approach to Food Access and Sustainability
This investment builds on HealthierHere’s role leading the HealthierHere Community Hub, supporting coordinated, cross-sector solutions to address health-related social needs, including food security.
By strengthening infrastructure, this funding helps reduce strain on frontline providers and improves the overall system’s ability to respond to community needs now and into the future.
“Food security is about more than access in the moment. It’s about building systems that can sustain communities over time,” said Thuy Hua-Ly, HealthierHere’s Chief Finance and Operations Officer. “These investments help ensure organizations in King County have the tools and capacity to serve people across our region with dignity and care at scale - particularly when more people are going hungry every day.”
“We're grateful to receive support from HealthierHere through the Food Infrastructure and Sustainability Fund. This investment strengthens our ability to provide reliable, culturally relevant food access for our community and helps us build a more resilient, equitable local food system.” — Najib Nazhat, District Director, Greater Puget Sound, Lutheran Community Services NW
