On November 27, 2018, HealthierHere was delighted to welcome Adam J. Falcone, JD, MPH, to Seattle for an executive level workshop entitled “Managed Care Contracting from a Position of Strength.” We brought together leaders from behavioral health agencies (BHAs) that are part of the King County Integrated Care Network (KCICN; previously known as the King County BHO Network) for this one-day, space-limited opportunity.
Mr. Falcone is a partner in the national health law practice group at Washington D.C.-based firm Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell, where he counsels a diverse range of community-based organizations that deliver primary and behavioral health care services. He offers extensive knowledge of health care policy and markets, and he is a frequent speaker about value-based payment contracts for primary and behavioral health providers.
In addition to providing an overview of Washington State laws that inform managed care contracts for BHAs, Mr. Falcone highlighted the advantages of being part of an integrated care network, such as KCICN. He also offered tips for negotiating contracts with managed care organizations (MCOs), noting that BHAs are often in a position of strength when setting contract terms with payors. His comprehensive presentation was very well received, with many participants giving high marks for both the workshop and presenter.Thank you to Mr. Falcone and our participants.
