We are thrilled to have Julia bring her passion and skill to our team! Get to know her more in this short interview:
What are you most looking forward to working with HealthierHere and our partners?
I am a strong advocate for community action and working collaboratively to find creative solutions to unprecedented problems those in our communities have faced, specifically during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In working with HealthierHere and our partners, I am most looking forward to the integration of ideas given the wide network and extensive knowledge and backgrounds of our team. I believe we have a strong group of individuals who have a history of cultivating solutions and I look forward to contributing to that.
What drives your passion for this work?
I have a passion for this work due to personal life experiences, and the hope to live in a more equitable society. From a young age, I have volunteered and always been a part of community-oriented projects that have helped serve different communities in Washington. My great-grandmother who raised me was my greatest inspiration and taught me to always be willing to extend a hand to those in need. She was a devout catholic and for as long as I can remember, I was inspired by the story of Mother Teresa. This is specifically because she aided those whose needs had been neglected or ignored by dedicating her existence to a values-based life. Similarly, I have a passion to help individuals live a more equitable and prosperous life and have aligned the work I participate in to achieve this.
What is something about you that others might not know?
Something others might not know about me is that I have been a private chef in the past and consider myself to be an intuitive chef and eater. I specialize in gluten and dairy free cooking, and love to share with others. I hope to one day curate a cookbook that exemplifies affordable and accessible meals for those with strict diets to promote a stress-free experience in the kitchen.
