We are thrilled to welcome Olivia Butkowski (she/her) to HealthierHere as our newest Community Network Manager! Learn more about Olivia in her welcome interview below.
What are you most looking forward to working with HealthierHere and our partners?
I am passionate about using my skills and experiences to support community-based solutions that improve population health and advance equity. What drew me to HealthierHere was the organizational commitment to center community voices and perspectives in decision making. I see this as being foundational to eliminating health and well-being disparities and working towards a future where everyone in King County can thrive. I am excited to build relationships with HealthierHere partners and understand how we can work collaboratively to make meaningful and sustainable impact for the communities they serve.
What drives your passion for this work?
My mother - who wears many hats as a parent, partner, social worker, and caring community member - has continuously inspired me to redistribute resources and share knowledge to empower others. This has become a personal and professional mission of mine. I see the work of the Community Information Exchange (CIE) furthering this mission by enabling more effective and equitable allocations of resources to clients in the community and identifying where there are gaps in resources across King County that people need to survive and thrive.
What is something about you that others might not know?
I get so much joy from dancing with groups of people! When I was younger, I took a variety of dance classes, including tap, jazz, and hip hop. Today, my dance experiences are less formal, but I enjoy disco nights with friends, dance pop-up classes, and kitchen dance parties while cooking with my roommates.
