Participate In a Survey for Midwives Working in Washington State

June 18, 2024
May 30, 2023

HealthierHere is pleased to amplify the following opportunity for midwives working in Washington State to participate in a survey about their experiences.

Background

Washington State has a team currently engaged with the Institute for Medicaid Innovation (IMI) in a 3-year learning collaborative with a goal of increasing access to midwives and midwifery models of care for pregnant people on Medicaid. The team's current focus is collecting data, hearing from midwives and clients, and better understanding how people are currently finding and accessing midwives across the state. This will then inform how they proceed, how they invest in mechanisms that seem to be working, and where gaps are – thinking about equity and how diverse families/communities are learning and paying attention to all of those ways that we should be leaning into as a system.

The team working on this project includes people from various agencies in WA: Health Care Authority, Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW), UnitedHealthcare, Global Perinatal Services, Quilted Health, the Midwives’ Association of Washington State (MAWS). The team appreciates the support from the Institute for Medicaid Innovation.

Survey Invitation

Hello!  We are collectively interested and invested in increasing access to midwives and midwifery models of care for people on Medicaid in WA State. To prioritize many strategies for “how” to increase access to a broad and diverse population across the state we need to learn and better understand how clients are learning about and accessing midwives now. We will use this information to inform our next steps and we deeply appreciate your input.

This survey is directed toward midwives (LMs – licensed midwives, CNMs-certified nurse midwives), and we are working on another survey that will be focused on the client perspective, which will hopefully be ready in a few weeks.

This survey will take about 5 minutes and if you wish to provide your email you will receive a small thank you.

Thank you!
